You may think of auditions as a stressful time: strangers judging you based on your abilities, looks and talent. But what if it wasn’t that way? What if it was more important where your relationship with Jesus is than how well you sing or play an instrument? Well, at Blue Ridge’s Worship Team auditions, it really is that way!

Here’s what you can expect: when you first walk in, you’ll be greeted by a few of our volunteers, (we call them the “Hospitality Team”) who will lead you into a cozy room so you can relax for a few minutes and get to know some of our team members. When you’re called in, you’ll meet a few more members of the team and you’ll sing or play a song of your choosing. When that’s done, you’ll be joined on stage by vocalists and band members and sing or play a couple worship songs to see where you would fit in best.

After that, you’ll head into the spiritual interview. Believe it or not, this is the most crucial part of the whole process! Here, you’ll get to tell us your story of how you came to Christ, what your life looks like as you walk with Him, how you came to Blue Ridge, and what spiritual expectations you may have about being a part of the Worship Team.

We’ll also share with you what it’s like to serve with us and expectations and requirements. This helps you determine if it’s the right place for you. The Hospitality Team will keep you company again while the leaders meet and pray over you before coming to a decision. Then, they’ll let you know that decision and pray with you before you go home.

It’s really a remarkable experience. Yes, you may still be nervous; yes, it can be scary to stand on stage by yourself in front of people you don’t know, but we do our best to make you feel welcome and loved. If you feel God is leading you to be a part of our team, we encourage you to sign up and come to the audition. You never know what God has in store for you through serving on the Worship Team!
